Job description

IDV USA is seeking a Software Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and integration of software solutions for military and specialty vehicle platforms. The Software Engineer will work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to develop embedded and application‑level software, support system integration activities, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on engineer with strong software development skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment. Please note that this job will be based on site in York, PA.

Duties and responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and embedded systems for vehicle platforms and related technologies.
• Develop software requirements, architecture, and design documentation.
• Participate in system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform software debugging, performance analysis, and root cause investigations.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system‑level tests.
• Support vehicle testing, field demonstrations, and customer evaluations as required.
• Ensure software development activities comply with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Maintain configuration management and version control of software products.
• Prepare technical reports, procedures, and documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and/or C#.
• Experience with software development tools, debugging, and version control systems (Git preferred).
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded systems and real‑time software development.
• Familiarity with CAN Bus, automotive communication protocols, or vehicle electronics.
• Experience in defense, automotive, aerospace, or industrial vehicle industries.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows development environments.
• Experience with model‑based design and simulation tools.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure software development practices.
• Understanding of military vehicle systems and defense industry standards.

Working conditions

• Ability to work in an office, laboratory, manufacturing, and vehicle test environment.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as required.
