Software Developer Location: Sterling Heights, MI Employment Type: Contract Pay Range: $50-$56/hour
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Software Developer with 4+ years of experience to support the development and maintenance of embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program. You will contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture and design, coding, testing, hardware/software integration, debugging, and software releases. This position is 100% onsite due to the nature of the work.
What You Will Do
- Develop software documentation and code across vehicle domains such as board support, cybersecurity, displays, or downloading.
- Perform software requirements analysis.
- Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved design tools and standards.
- Develop C++ code in accordance with established department standards and procedures.
- Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
- Perform hardware/software integration.
- Debug software issues identified throughout multiple testing phases.
- Provide development task status updates to software project leads.
- Contribute to software releases involving multiple developers.
- Interface with other departments and business units, including Systems Engineering and Software Quality.
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies.
- Support continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in a related software development role.
- Strong C++ development experience.
- Experience with DOS.
- Experience with Git, GitLab, and/or Bitbucket.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C#, C, Python, or Qt.
- Experience working with mixed operating system environments such as VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, and GVOS.
- Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
- Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
- Experience with Agile processes and tools.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.

- Experience with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, or FACE.
- Familiarity with Type 1/2 hypervisors.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with IoT concepts.
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Experience with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
- Experience with NGVA (NATO Ground Vehicle Architecture) data models.
- Experience with UKGVA (UK Ground Vehicle Architecture) data models.
- Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS).
- Experience with UDP, TCP, and multicast networking.
Clearance Requirements
- This position requires eligibility to obtain a U.S. Security clearance.
- Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
- The contract house will hold the required clearance.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to climb on and off, work in, and work around military vehicles.
- Must be able to pass an ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) test for confined-space access.
- Travel of up to 10% may be required periodically.
