Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager for AWS EKS to lead teams responsible for Kubernetes infrastructure that powers EKS at scale. You will own the roadmap, coordinate with partner teams, and drive reliability across multi-cluster environments.
The role demands strong engineering leadership, deep experience with distributed systems, and a passion for customer-visible reliability, performance, and scalable architecture. Equal opportunity employer.
The mission of Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is to simplify the deployment, management, and scaling of Kubernetes applications in the cloud or on-premises. We are expanding the organization to keep pace with EKS’s rapid adoption, and this role leads teams responsible for the infrastructure that keeps EKS running reliably for customers at scale.
You will lead a team that owns three core areas:
Key challenges include keeping the management plane available at industry‑leading levels while shipping features weekly; making fleet‑wide upgrades across thousands of clusters safe and simple; and evolving billing and metering systems to support new pricing models without breaking existing customers. You will define the roadmap, make trade‑offs, and deliver.
You will define product and technical direction, partner with adjacent teams to coordinate architecture and feature delivery, and own operational posture end to end: on‑call, incident response, and availability metrics. You will build and grow a high‑performing team with a culture of ownership and operational rigor.
Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and optional Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
