Job summary

Roblox in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Software Engineer, Communications Safety to help build chat and moderation systems at scale across our metaverse platform. You will collaborate with backend services, data pipelines, and ML models to ensure safe, reliable communication for billions of messages.

You will work with Game Engine, Safety, and ML teams to design high-scale safety services, apply model tuning, and push for reliable, compliant experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience in backend software development.
• 2+ years experience building and supporting ML systems in production.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/CE or similar.
• Experience collaborating with backend engineers on client/server design for high-scale products.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners in Product, Design, and Data Science.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and scale infrastructure to support millions of concurrent users.
• Architect reliable safety services leveraging ML models.
• Tune ML models and build safe chat experiences.
• Design and implement moderation systems for global policy compliance.
• Improve processes to be more effective and efficient.
• Maintain high quality standards during feature development.
• Collaborate with Game engine, Creator, Trust & Safety teams across the company.
• Self-organize and own projects end-to-end.
