Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Software Engineer, Journeyman, to design and implement firmware and software for aircraft autopilots and avionics. You will collaborate with systems, electrical, and aerospace engineers and participate in ground and flight tests, contributing to cutting-edge defense programs.

The role requires hands-on development in C/C++ and Qt within a hard real-time environment, adherence to DO-178C, and compliance with AS9100D quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science; MS preferred.
• 6+ years of work experience with C/C++ and Qt.
• 3+ years of related work experience in aircraft avionics.
• 1 year of work experience with a Real Time Operating System.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for aircraft autopilots and avionics systems.
• Participate in ground and flight testing of the developed systems.
• Integrate hardware/software in our System Integration Lab (SIL).
• Develop software using C/C++ and the Qt framework.
• Develop avionics software in a hard real-time environment.
• Develop avionics software in accordance with DO-178C.
• Ensure software standards within our AS9100D quality management system are met.
