Job summary

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks an experienced Software Engineer for a full-time research faculty role in the Applied Systems Lab (ASL) ATTD division. The position focuses on autonomous uncrewed aircraft programs, software design, development, testing, and team leadership to deliver complex, multi-language codebases while adhering to stringent standards.

Qualifications

• Experience developing software for complex systems using disciplined approaches and processes.
• Experience developing estimates and managing software development through the lifecycle.
• Experience developing, integrating, and/or testing unmanned autonomous system capabilities.
• Experience developing software in C/C++ languages.
• Experience with scripting languages (bash, Python).
• Experience developing software on Linux and deploying to Linux targets.
• Experience with multi-threaded/multi-process applications.
• Experience with IPC mechanisms (shared memory, pub-sub, RPC).
• Experience with containerized software development.
• Experience leading sponsored research projects and sponsor interactions.

Responsibilities

• Perform software development, debugging, modification, enhancement, and documentation.
• Design, test, and develop software to meet program requirements.
• Define requirements and develop designs considering hardware limitations.
• Prepare technical reports and deliverables for projects.
• Lead or contribute to white papers and proposals.
• Create and analyze network protocols.
• Provide technical leadership to development teams.
