Job summary

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta seeks an Autonomous Systems Engineering Branch Head for a full-time research faculty position within the Applied Systems Lab. You will lead the ATTD, oversee 7–15 staff, advance autonomous air vehicle technologies, and coordinate sponsor engagements.

This role requires deep expertise in systems engineering, embedded software, avionics, and test environments, plus the ability to develop proposals, mentor engineers, and secure new research

Qualifications

• Leading 5–10 engineers on complex projects.
• Experience with autonomous air vehicle systems.
• Strong systems engineering processes and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to white papers and proposals.
• Support new research opportunities and sponsor engagement.
• Oversee branch hiring, staffing, and performance reviews.
• Mentor engineers and develop training plans.
• Develop and integrate capabilities into military systems.
• Serve as technical expert for autonomous air vehicles.
