Job summary

Akina seeks an experienced Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. The role involves analytics, real-time processing, and large data handling, with both independent and team responsibilities.

The position requires extensive C++, Linux, and Python experience, TS/SCI with polygraph, and the ability to lead software development activities while ensuring performance standards. A strong engineering background is essential.

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) years' experience as a DSP Algorithm developer.
• Twelve (12) years' experience with C++, Linux, Python, or similar development language.
• C++ work must be in the last 10 years.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• May substitute four years' experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
• May substitute two years' experience with MS in Engineering or CS.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
• Resolves software problem reports.
• Analyzes user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Debugs existing software and corrects defects.
• Provides recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
• Designs and codes new software or modifies existing software to add new features.
• Integrates existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develops simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
• Writes or reviews software and system documentation.
• Serves as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project.
• Designs or implements complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
• Develops or implements algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
• Assists with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Develops software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes, and investigating problem areas.
• Modifies existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
• Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
• Designs or implements complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
• Performs quality control on team products.
• Implements recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
• Oversees one or more software development teams and ensures the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
• Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
• Coordinates software system installation and monitors equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.

Salary Range: $240k-$293k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
