Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics or related quantitative field.
• 3-7 years of commercial software engineering experience with Python and/or C++.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, concurrency and systems performance.

Location: New York - on-site - full time

Salary range: $350,000 - $850,000 total comp

We're partnering with one of the world's most prestigious hedge funds, whose technology organisation is responsible for some of the most sophisticated engineering platforms and trading infrastructure in the industry. As the firm continues to grow its New York presence, they're looking to hire exceptional Software Engineers into their central engineering team.

You'll be working on the design and development of high-performance infrastructure and distributed systems that sit at the core of the firm's global trading operations. The problems are technically challenging and operate at significant scale, with improvements to latency, performance, reliability and scalability having a tangible impact across the business.

The team is particularly interested in engineers who have developed their skills in highly technical, performance-driven environments - whether within leading technology companies, high-growth startups or investment firms. You'll join a culture built around technical excellence, autonomy and genuine ownership, working alongside an exceptionally strong group of engineers.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics or another highly quantitative discipline, supported by a strong academic record.
• 3-7 years of commercial software engineering experience, with deep proficiency in Python and/or C++ and experience building high-performance, low-latency or otherwise performance-critical systems.
• Strong computer science / engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, concurrency and systems performance.
• Clear evidence of progression, continuous technical development and increasing levels of responsibility throughout your career.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills, alongside the autonomy and judgement to operate effectively in a fast-moving, technically demanding environment.

Experience that could be particularly relevant:

• Engineering experience within high-growth, technically ambitious startup environments.
• Experience as a Founding Engineer, technical Co-Founder or early engineering hire, with meaningful responsibility for building products and systems from the ground up.
• A strong track record of ownership, whether through 0-1 product development, platform builds or leading the delivery of complex engineering initiatives.
• Hands-on experience improving the performance, scalability or latency characteristics of production systems.
