Job summary

Intelliguard is seeking a Software Development Team Lead in Columbus, OH, a hybrid role combining hands-on coding with leadership. You will design, develop, and evolve our software and cloud platform, using React/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

You’ll mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive best practices across CI/CD, testing, and releases. You’ll collaborate with Product and UX/UI to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions, while guiding

About The Role

As the Software Development Team Lead, you will be a hands‑on technical leader responsible for the design, development, quality, and ongoing evolution of Intelliguard’s software applications and cloud‑based technology platform.

This is a player coach role. We are looking for someone who enjoys writing code, solving difficult technical problems, and working directly with engineers while also providing technical direction, mentoring, and leadership.

While React and TypeScript will be central to the role, we are looking for someone with full‑stack development experience across modern environment of JavaScript, Node.js, Next.js, Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS. This person should be comfortable moving between the front end, backend services, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure as needed.

You will help establish software development practices across the small team while ensuring that our applications are scalable, maintainable, secure, reliable, and intuitive for our customers.

What You’ll Be Doing
Hands‑On Development
  • Spend meaningful time writing production‑quality code.
  • Build new features and capabilities from concept through production.
  • Develop reusable React components and front‑end architecture that can scale across Intelliguard’s product ecosystem.
  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js, Next.js, and Python.
  • Work directly with SQL and PostgreSQL to develop efficient data models, queries, integrations, and application functionality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑hosted applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Work with AWS services and cloud architectures to support application scalability, reliability, security, monitoring, and performance.
  • Integrate applications with APIs, cloud services, databases, RFID systems, and other technologies.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor for other software engineers.
  • Conduct and participate in meaningful code reviews.
  • Identify technical debt and lead efforts to improve the health and performance of the codebase.
  • Help establish disciplined approaches to testing, CI/CD, version control, documentation, and software releases.
  • Help engineers improve their technical skills, development practices, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
  • Help break down complex projects into manageable technical work.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on team development, hiring, and technical planning.
  • Lead by example and be willing to roll up your sleeves when the team needs help.
Product & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product Management and UX/UI to translate customer and business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Partner with backend engineers, data engineers, and architects to define APIs, data models, and system interfaces.
  • Help Product Management understand technical tradeoffs, risks, dependencies, and opportunities.
  • Participate in roadmap planning and technical estimation.
  • Advocate for a great customer experience while ensuring that solutions are technically sound.
Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong professional experience building applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript and modern JavaScript development.
  • Professional experience with Node.js and Next.js.
  • Experience developing backend services and APIs.
  • Experience with Python and the ability to contribute to Python‑based applications and services.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working directly with relational databases.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including data modeling, queries, performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Professional experience developing, deploying, and supporting cloud‑hosted applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Understanding of cloud application architecture, scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
  • Experience designing and maintaining scalable application architectures.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and modern web application architectures.
  • Strong understanding of Git and modern software development practices.
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and influence engineering decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A hands‑on approach to software development—you still enjoy writing code.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in integrating software applications with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) or other healthcare information systems.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and technologies such as HL7, FHIR, APIs, or healthcare data integration.
  • Experience with inventory management, inventory control, supply chain, or asset‑tracking software.
  • Familiarity with technologies used for inventory visibility and tracking, including RFID, barcode systems, IoT, or connected devices.
  • Experience working with software that manages physical inventory, medication, medical devices, or other regulated products.
  • Experience with Angular software development.
  • Experience with specific AWS services such as EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, API Gateway, or related AWS technologies.
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code and automated cloud deployments.
  • Experience leading or mentoring software engineers.
  • Experience building applications used in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, or other highly reliable environments.
  • Experience with intensive data applications and complex workflows.
  • Experience with containerization, DevOps, and modern cloud architecture.
  • Experience integrating software with hardware, IoT, RFID, or other connected devices.
  • Experience working in an Agile product development environment.
