Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking a part-time Supplemental Instruction Leader to support students in historically difficult courses. The SI Leader will attend classes, take notes, and model effective study strategies daily.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and some college coursework, maintaining SAP, and earning an A or B in the course. Training and support are provided by Ivy Tech, with emphasis on confidentiality and diversity.

Qualifications

• Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
• Must have a grade of A or B in the targeted class.
• Desire and ability to perform work as SI Leader.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and coursework materials.
• Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of students and employees.
• Fully supports Ivy Tech's mission and strategic plan.

Responsibilities

• Attend the same class daily; take notes and listen to the professor.

Job description

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that targets historically difficult courses. The SI Leader is a student or recent Ivy Tech graduate who has taken and excelled in the class. SI Leaders should be prepared to share with students how to effectively study for the course. SI Leaders attend the same class every day, taking notes and listening closely to the professor.

• Hourly Wage = $15
• Participate in SI Leader Training
• Attend all class sessions and serve as a model student
• Conduct group study sessions
• Collaborate with faculty
• Integrate Content and Learning Skills
• Collect Data for Program Evaluation

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Some college coursework required

• Must be able to maintain the confidentiality and private nature of information and coursework materials
