Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver course instruction in information systems or information technology, create engaging learning experiences, and align with the program's syllabi and outcomes.

You will use Canvas and PowerPoint, maintain attendance and grading records, be available to students outside scheduled class time, and ensure timely communication with the program coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Earned master’s degree or higher in information systems, information technology or related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, with 18 semester hours beyond the introductory principle(s) level in information systems, information technology or related field.
  • Earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, with two or more of: professional certification, two years of in-field employment, documented teaching excellence, research/publication, or 18 semester hours of additional coursework.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

PROGRAM OPERATION

Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS

Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION

Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information systems, information technology or related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in information systems, information technology or related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national, regional or state)
    • Two years of in-field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military
  • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in information systems, information technology or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national, regional or state) in the field
    • Two years of in-field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military
