Job summary

State of Ohio is seeking a Software Development Specialist 1 for the Public Safety IT team in Columbus. The role focuses on applying Microsoft .Net in application development, performing testing, and contributing to the design and modification of software programs.

You will work under an IT supervisor, with duties spanning data extraction, program module creation, and use of query and debugging tools. The position offers full-time hours, onsite work, and several onsite benefits.

Qualifications

• 36 mos. combined work experience in developing/modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description and job posting.
• Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems and 18 mos. combined work experience in the same areas specified above.
• Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems and 12 mos. combined work experience in the same areas specified above.
• Equivalent minimum qualifications as noted in the position description; only those with the listed primary and secondary technology are considered.

Responsibilities

• Under general direction from assigned Information Technology Supervisor to develop and/or modify programs for computer applications, perform testing and debugging and assist with analysis and design.
• Reads, writes, extracts and/or reports from individual file(s).
• Creates and/or modifies existing program modules; visual content creation is not included as software development.

What you'll do as a Software Development Specialist 1:
