Job summary

Bandwidth is seeking a Software Development Manager I in Raleigh, NC to lead a team delivering Java/Spring REST services on AWS. You will balance people leadership with hands-on coding, drive feature delivery, and ensure scalable, observable systems with robust CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 7 years of experience in software development or related roles.
• 2 years of experience leading a team of developers as manager or technical lead.
• Experience with HTTP networking protocols.
• Designing and debugging distributed systems across microservices.
• Experience with AWS development.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (RDS).
• Experience with IAC tools including Terraform and CloudFormation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Enterprise Change and Release Management processes.

Responsibilities

• Own availability and performance of distributed multi-service systems in AWS.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through 1:1s and feedback.
• Design, document, review features and APIs with product owner.
• Mentor junior developers to grow technical skills.
• Support CI/CD pipelines for scalable, fault-tolerant software.
• Lead sprint planning and track progress; remove roadblocks.
