Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. seeks a Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers in building and operating software systems at scale.

You will own the technical vision and roadmap, guiding the team through the full lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance. You will coach engineers, shape technical direction, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to solve real customer problems and deliver high-quality, maintainable software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering management experience.
• 7+ years working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting scalable systems.
• 8+ years of leading multi-tier web services.
• Experience with engineering practices across the full software lifecycle, including live site operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing software development team with coaching and career development guidance.
• Own the 1–2 year product roadmap and technical strategy for the team's software systems.
• Drive system design decisions to meet scalability, performance, security, and maintainability goals.
• Collaborate with product, program management, and peer engineering teams to align priorities and deliver cohesive solutions.
• Establish operational excellence practices with metrics, audits, and quality standards to improve delivery.
