Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Manager - Modernization to lead two engineering teams and modernize the warehouse management platform.

You will steer the transition from a Java monolith to API-first microservices on Microsoft Azure, balancing speed, reliability, and security while guiding architecture and code reviews. The role supports a hybrid work model based in Camden, NJ.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development with at least 5 years in leadership.
• Proven modernization of monoliths to microservices.
• Deep Java ecosystem experience: Spring, Hibernate.
• Strong system design, observability, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Azure or similar cloud platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead two engineering teams and set hiring standards.
• Drive modernization of the WMS platform toward API-first microservices.
• Oversee architecture discussions, code reviews, and delivery outcomes.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Platform, QA, Product, and business stakeholders.
• Champion reliability, observability, and production readiness.
