Job summary

TripleScreen Search & Staffing seeks a highly technical Software Modernization Manager to lead multiple engineering teams through a large-scale transformation. Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience, with significant Java ecosystem experience.
• 5+ years in software engineering leadership/management.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate or similar.
• Proven track record in large-scale application modernization and microservices.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, distributed systems, REST APIs, API-first development.
• Ability to mentor engineers, critique designs, and drive technical decisions.
• Experience with modern CI/CD, observability, containerization, and IaC.
• Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical tradeoffs for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple software engineering teams for a major modernization initiative.
• Drive transformation of a large Java monolith to API-first microservices.
• Provide technical leadership across architecture, design, quality, and production readiness.
• Engage in architecture reviews, code reviews, and key engineering decisions.
• Partner with Architecture, Platform, SRE, QA, Product and stakeholders to drive delivery.
• Own team performance, roadmaps, and engineering outcomes.
• Build and mentor engineering teams, including hiring and career development.
• Establish engineering standards and promote reliability and maintainability.
• Manage internal and external development resources.
