Job summary

Amazon Optics is seeking a Software Development Manager to build and manage services securing AWS and Amazon sites. You will guide architecture, collaborate with product teams, and own end-to-end delivery for global customers.

You’ll lead cross-functional engineers, address production issues, and mentor teams in a fast-paced environment, with a strong ownership mindset and a passion for security-focused software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management.
• 7+ years working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years designing or architecting multi-tier systems.
• 8+ years delivering multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of SDLC practices and devops.
• Experience partnering with product management.
• Experience in communicating with stakeholders to collect requirements.
• Experience recruiting and mentoring software engineers.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the team’s structure, software, and strategic direction.
• Partner with engineers by delegating oversight of components and operations.
• Lead with empathy and manage sustainable workloads for the team.
• Build a team that delivers independently, guiding with technical judgment.
• Own software architecture or product with significant business impact.
• Define vision by working backwards from the customer needs.
• Tackle complex problems and mitigate risks proactively.
• Provide the team with support to own systems end-to-end.
