United Airlines in Chicago, IL invites a Software Developer for Customer Care Technology to design, develop and modify software applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable digital solutions for our customers.

You will implement backend components in Python, use AWS Lambda and Step Functions, apply secure SDLC practices, contribute to documentation and unit tests, and support deployment and ongoing performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Proficient in Python programming, AWS Lambda and Step Functions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS CloudFormation for serverless deployment.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of SDLC processes, inputs/outputs, standards and best practices.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of development methodologies, software design and design patterns.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and modify software applications and systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Provide support to software development leads (e.g., Senior Developer).
• Work on one or more moderate to complex projects.
• Apply security code best practices throughout development cycle.
• Contribute to software documentation and user manuals.
• Complete comprehensive unit testing on all developed/enhanced software and support deployment of software applications.
• Participates in code reviews to ensure code adheres to standards.
• Support and troubleshoot software systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems and providing follow-up on all issues and solutions.
• Stays up to date on the latest industry trends and technology.
