Job summary

United Airlines is seeking a Senior Developer to design, build, and deliver backend capabilities for a modern messaging platform. You will lead technical direction across API design, microservices, and cloud-native deployments on AWS, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.

You will collaborate with architecture, security, DevOps, and product teams, mentor colleagues, and contribute to Agile ceremonies while advancing AI-assisted engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of software development experience including design and debugging.
• Experience with C# and .NET Core, APIs, and backend engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture (ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS).
• Strong documentation skills and ability to produce designs and specs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and delivery of backend capabilities for a messaging platform.
• Oversee APIs, API contracts, and routing with Kong in a cloud environment.
• Architect scalable AWS deployments (ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS) and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop event-driven patterns using Solace to enable reliable messaging at scale.
• Create and maintain technical designs, specs, and integration documentation.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage risks and blockers.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
• Stay current with API, AI-assisted engineering, cloud, and DevOps practices.
