Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior software engineer in the United States (Arizona) to design, develop, and test complex Java-based solutions. You will troubleshoot production issues, perform systems analysis, and design scalable APIs with Spring Boot in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

Job description

• Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions
• Investigate and resolve complex application and system technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques
• Conduct complex systems analysis and recommend changes in policies and procedures to improve operations
• Prepare and install complex solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
• Follow the software development lifecycle
• Participate in design reviews and learn key system design principles
• Mentor junior engineers and may begin mentoring peer engineers
• Review teammates' code
• Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
• 4+ years of professional software development experience using Java
• 3+ years of experience developing REST-based services, with strong emphasis on API development
• Experience building APIs using Spring Boot
• Experience developing applications using event-driven and messaging frameworks such as Kafka
• Experience implementing container-based APIs using OpenShift, Docker, or Kubernetes
• Experience working on Agile teams delivering software in sprint-based development cycles
• Financial services, insurance, banking, or other highly regulated industry experience is a differentiator
• Experience with cloud-native application development and modernization initiatives is a differentiator
• Experience mentoring junior developers is a differentiator
• Experience with JavaScript and modern front-end development concepts is a differentiator
• US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner is a differentiator
