About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Software Asset & Data Specialist to join our Enterprise Software Management (ESM) team. In this role, you will be a key player in supporting our digital transformation initiatives and technology cost optimization efforts by managing a comprehensive software inventory. This includes integrating financial, contractual, and usage data to support license optimization, compliance readiness, strategic planning, and governance automation.

The ideal candidate will be highly data-driven and passionate about building structured systems that enable smart decision-making across IT, Finance, Procurement, and other business units. You will work collaboratively with multiple teams to ensure software asset data integrity and provide insightful reports to help drive cost-effective decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain Software Inventory:
  • Build and continuously improve an enterprise-wide software inventory to ensure data accuracy across financial, contractual, usage, and ownership domains.
  • Data Normalization and Classification:
  • Design and implement scalable processes for software asset data normalization, deduplication, and classification to maintain high-quality data standards.
  • Cross-Platform Integration:
  • Integrate and reconcile software data from various platforms such as Zylo, OpenLM, SAP GL, Coupa, and contract management systems to ensure comprehensive visibility and accuracy.
  • Data Governance and Lifecycle Management:
  • Maintain and enforce data governance policies that ensure data integrity, lifecycle traceability, and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
  • Work closely with IT, Procurement, Finance, Security, and other business teams to ensure alignment on software asset usage, cost centers, and financial impact.
  • Reporting and Insights Generation:
  • Generate structured reporting and dashboards that support license optimization, vendor negotiations, compliance audits, and executive decision-making.
  • Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on software asset data and lifecycle management, driving best practices and standardization across the organization.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and optimize data management processes for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or Enterprise Technology Operations.
  • Tools and Platforms:
  • Experience with asset management platforms such as Zylo, Snow, Flexera, OpenLM, or ServiceNow SAM.
  • Data Skills:
  • Proficiency in data modeling, system integration, and cross-platform reconciliation.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
  • Strong ability to design and manage structured reporting, dashboards, and data governance frameworks to provide actionable insights.
  • Communication:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data in business-relevant terms.
  • Remote Work & Time Zone:
  • Must be comfortable working remotely in the Pacific Time Zone (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM PT), with flexibility based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a technical or related field.
  • Experience with software asset management in a large, complex organization with cross-functional integration.
  • Familiarity with contract management systems and software license optimization.
  • Strong understanding of software lifecycle management, license compliance, and cost optimization strategies.
