Job description

Job Summary:

The Cordia team is seeking an Energy Analyst Asset Manager responsible for managing fuel procurement and energy market participation for Cordia's combined heat and power, district energy, and behind-the-meter energy assets in the eastern United States. The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to optimize fuel procurement and revenues from behind-the-meter power purchase agreements, PJM market participation, and environmental credits sales. This role requires close collaboration with teams across the company, including Accounting, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial. The employee will also manage forecasting energy costs and revenues, participate in monthly P&L reviews and variance analysis, interface with markets, and handle regulatory requirements. This position reports to the East Region President.

Note: THIS IS A REMOTE/HYBRID ROLE - Preference given to candidates residing within a reasonable commute to Princeton, NJ; Harrisburg, PA; or Pittsburgh, PA.

Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas:
  1. Develop and implement strategies for fuel procurement of Cordia power plants, district energy, and combined heat and power assets.
  2. Collaborate with plant operations leadership to implement hedging and procurement strategies.
  3. Monitor and analyze energy market trends, prices, and regulations to identify opportunities and risks, updating plans accordingly.
  4. Oversee market participation of Cordia assets in PJM energy and capacity markets, working with third-party consultants.
  5. Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and market monitors.
  6. Support annual budgeting processes by forecasting energy revenues and costs using market data.
  7. Participate in monthly P&L and operational reviews of asset performance.
  8. Develop risk and procurement strategies for energy services with Cordia customers.
  9. Assist the business development team in evaluating new projects and opportunities.
  10. Participate in due diligence of potential acquisition targets involved in energy markets.
  11. Analyze financial and operational data to recommend improvements in asset performance.
  12. Manage renewable energy credits trading for Cordia facilities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications like CFA or PMP are a plus.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in asset management, energy procurement, analytics, trading, or consulting within the energy sector. Experience with fossil fuel power generation and PJM or other RTOs/ISOs markets is advantageous.
  • Skills: Self-motivated, with a fundamental understanding of power generation, commodity markets, and commercial structures such as power purchase agreements. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other business applications. Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills; capable of working independently and in teams.
