Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) seeks a Software Asset Management Analyst to manage the SAM program, track software assets, licenses, renewals, and retirements across the HHS Enterprise. The role focuses on reducing costs, ensuring compliance, and coordinating with business areas and vendors to optimize software use.

The position reports to the Software Management Manager, with responsibilities spanning data collection, policy development, and audits.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, information technology, computer science, MIS, or related field.
  • Experience performing software asset management, IT asset management, or software licensing in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Experience analyzing software inventory, license entitlements, purchasing or contract records, and software usage data for compliance and management decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and administer the Software Asset Management program to support license compliance, inventory control, and cost management.
  • Coordinate SAM tools, data standards, and documentation; work with vendors and technical teams to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate software license compliance reviews, audits, and publisher reviews; prepare evidence and responses.
  • Locate, review, and maintain software purchasing, contract, subscription, and entitlement records; ensure complete auditable evidence.
