Job summary

Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY, seeks an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in all aspects of the NJCAA Division III program. You will assist with coaching, travel planning, equipment, and monitoring student-athlete progress, while upholding college policies.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and supervisory skills, plus the ability to collaborate with faculty and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study.
• Coaching experience at the college/university or high school level. Community College experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty, staff, and administration. Valid driver’s license with no major violations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering all aspects of the program, including coaching, promoting, travel, equipment, supervising students, academic progress.
• Familiar with and comply with College, Department, Regional, District, and NJCAA policies.
• Provide instruction and training to develop skills, technique, and conditioning.
• Provide on-site supervision during practice and games, including locker room supervision.
• Adhere to department policy manual guidelines.
• Attend clinics, seminars, and development programs to improve expertise.
• Consider academic progress for degree and schedule around final exams.
• Assist Head Coach in recruiting new student-athletes to attend FLCC annually.
• Assist Director of Athletics and participate in fund-raising/promotion projects.
• Represent College with dignity, integrity, and strength of character; ethical behavior.
• Treat opposing coaches, officials, students, and colleagues with respect.
• Develop a summary report after the season for their program.
• Other duties as assigned by Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
