Job summary

Bates College is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach to support a competitive NCAA Division III program. The role emphasizes student‑athlete development, mentorship, and recruiting within NCAA/NESCAC guidelines.

The position requires coordinating travel, budgeting, coaching strategies, and collaboration with admissions and athletics staff to recruit and enroll a strong, diverse team. Evening and weekend commitments are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current CPR & First Aid certification.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and develop student‑athletes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of running a successful DIII program.
• Provide leadership and instruction in personal and athletic development of student‑athletes.
• Coordinate recruitment activities and communicate with prospective students and families.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA, NESCAC, and college policies in recruitment and operations.
• Oversee budgeting, travel arrangements, and equipment management.
