Job summary

Children’s Aid seeks a full-time Social Worker (Victim Services) to support crime victims and witnesses in the Bronx through crisis counseling, case management and court-related assistance. The role, funded by NYS OVS, emphasizes trauma-informed care and engagement with diverse high-need youth and families.

Key duties include outreach, referrals, assessments, safety planning, and collaboration with OVS and center staff to ensure comprehensive support and follow-up for clients.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or license-eligible mental health profession.
• License required; must obtain license within 6 months of hire.
• 2+ years experience working with persons in crisis, victims of crime, young men of color, and LGBTQ community.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and engage in marketing activities at Children’s Aid sites (community schools, preventive, etc.), partner organizations, and with the South Bronx and northern Manhattan communities.
• Accept and manage referrals.
• Conduct thorough assessments of crime victim needs, including mental health assessments, case management needs and linkages to services.
• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
• Advise participants on benefits and services and assist with documentation and court-related processes.
• Collaborate with clients on treatment plans and goals.
