Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services seeks a School Social Worker to provide counseling to students and families and to participate in IEP development and MDT meetings. The role emphasizes collaboration with staff and families to support social-emotional growth within a pediatric setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Social Work and a State Social Worker License, with preferred experience in pediatric mental health and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• State Social Worker License required.
• Master's Degree in Social Work.
• Experience or specialized training in pediatric mental health preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to coordinate activities with professionals, staff, parents, and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Providing counseling services to students and their parents.
• Participate in a multi-tiered system of support for students with social/emotional and behavioral needs, including participation in interdisciplinary meetings to evaluate and discuss the diagnosis and treatment of students.
• Participating in initial IEP and annual IEP development as appropriate.
• Collaborate with families and staff, during weekly team meetings and follow-ups, to support social and emotional development.
• Adhere to procedures for record keeping, eligibility documentation, timelines and safeguards.
• Develop and maintain a schedule to ensure compliance with all required meetings and services.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing counseling services to students and their parents.
• Participate in a multi-tiered system of support for students with social/emotional and behavioral needs, including participation in inter-disciplinary meetings to evaluate and discuss the diagnosis and treatment of students.
• Participating in initial IEP and annual IEP development as appropriate.
• Collaborate with and coach families and staff, during weekly team meetings and follow-up meetings, to support social and emotional development.
• Adhere to federal/state/local procedures for record keeping, eligibility documentation, timelines and procedural safeguards.
• Develop and maintain a schedule to ensure compliance with all required meetings and services.
