Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) seeks a School Social Worker to support the social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This role involves counseling students and their families, participating in MTSS, and collaborating with school staff across multiple disciplines to ensure timely services.

The ideal candidate holds a State Social Worker license, an MSW, and has experience in pediatric mental health.

Qualifications

• State license required in CT.

• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling to students and parents.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing counseling services to students and their parents.
• Participate in a multi-tiered system of support for students with social/emotional and behavioral needs, including participation in inter-disciplinary meetings to evaluate and discuss the diagnosis and treatment of students.
• Participating in initial IEP and annual IEP development as appropriate.
• Collaborate with and coach families and staff, during weekly team meetings and follow-up meetings, to support social and emotional development.
• Adhere to federal/state/local procedures for record keeping, eligibility documentation, timelines and procedural safeguards.
• Develop and maintain a schedule to ensure compliance with all required meetings and services.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATIONS

• **State Social Worker License Required**
• Master's Degree in Social Work.
• Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
• Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.
