Services ForAdults (SFA) is a partof the Adult Services Division of the Mecklenburg County Department of Child,Family, and Adult Services. The divisionis responsible for four main program areas: Adult Social Work Services,Community Social Work, the Senior Citizens Nutrition Program, and theMecklenburg Transportation System (MTS).

Position Specific Information

This position has directresponsibility for and supervision of a team of Social Workers within theCommunity Social Work unit in the Services For Adults (SFA) division.

The Community Social Work programprovides social work and case management assistance for adults, seniors,and disabled citizens who fall outside of protective services. The CSW Supervisor will work closelywith supervisors in other areas of SFA, including APS (Adult ProtectiveServices), Senior Nutrition, and Just One Call. Whereas the supervisor will not carry acaseload, s/he may make home visits to support team members.

Office location for this positionis the Valerie C. Woodard Center (Chapin Hall), 3205 Freedom Drive,Charlotte, NC 28208.


Position Summary

Provides direct supervision, training, support, review andevaluation of professional technical and para-professional staff involvedin areas which could include Social Services or Public Health. Thisposition compiles reports and data to ensure compliance with establishedpolicies and procedures as well as assignment and monitoring of cases.This position provides feedback to staff to enhance their capabilities toperform efficiently.

Essential Functions

Supervise, train, and evaluate theperformance of staff
Consult with teams and staff onindividual case assignments
Develop procedures to meet department orprogram goals, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. Reviewsinformation with teams or staff members to provide guidance and directionin the delivery of services
Establish performance objectives,conducts periodic reviews and monitors progress
Monitor budget activities and adjustsexpenditures and makes recommendations as appropriate
Review and audits staff cases andworkloads to prioritize duties and referrals for new cases
Complete monthly and quarterly programreports
Provide consultation to staff in complexcase situations, acute emergencies, or cases which require a high-leveldecision
Communicate with and visit other publicand private welfare agencies, hospitals and other institutions in orderto exchange information and develop resources
Seek additional sources to increasefunding and expand services
Review and analyze activity reports andstatistics for continuous awareness of program operation
May be required to staff shelters in theevent of a disaster

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:Minimum of five years of social services or human servicesexperience

Education:Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health or related field

Combinationof relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes

Licenses and Certifications:
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Requires County Driving Privileges

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in SocialWork preferred.

Previous experience makingin-home and in-community visits.
