Job Title: Social Work Supervisor (PART-TIME)

Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital

The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. We believe that total patient care must emphasize the physical, emotional, and social needs of each patient and their care partners. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities.

  • The Social Work Supervisor will report to the Director, Care Management who oversees social work services embedded in primary care and specialty care practice sites.
  • The Social Work Supervisor will provide direct clinical supervision, administrative and programmatic oversight to social work staff working within the practice to provide concrete service referrals, brief supportive counseling, crisis intervention and other episodic services to address identified social determinant of health needs.
  • Other responsibilities will include quality assurance of clinical services, as well as collaboration in program development, administrative and operational duties.
Responsibilities
  • The Social Work Supervisor will oversee embedded social work programs across multiple ambulatory care locations and programs including: Internal Medicine Associates (IMA), IMS Depression Care Management program, Martha Stewart Center for Living, Mount Sinai Doctors East 85th Street, and Mount Sinai Doctors West 91st Street, and specialty clinics at both the Center for Advanced Medicine and 5 E. 98th Street.
  • In this role the Social Work Supervisor will work collaboratively with practice and program leaders at each site to ensure program success and social work service alignment with each practice’s needs.

Work days: Tu/W/Th. This is a hybrid role (mix of onsite/remote work).

Qualifications
  • NYS LCSW.
  • Minimum of 6 years of post-MSW experience, preferably in a healthcare or social services setting.
  • Experience supervising frontline staff (e.g. Social Workers, Care Coordinators or other similarly qualified staff) and/or experience managing groups of staff at an administrative/programmatic level preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in program development and administration.
  • Exceptional collaborative, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, and to adapt to changing priorities, needs and deliverables.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to create actionable solutions.
  • Demonstrated skill in data analysis and application of data to inform quality improvement and supervisory processes, and demonstrate social work program outcomes and value.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78,649.00 - $127,458.00 annually (this is the full-time salary range, part-time would be 0.6 of this). Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
