Job summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Social Services Specialist to deliver social services to individuals in communities, facilities, or hospitals. This full-time, regular role involves managing caseloads, evaluating needs, counseling clients, and coordinating for required treatments or services.

You will collaborate with a psychiatric team when needed, determine eligibility for programs, and plan casework to support families.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work or a bachelor’s degree with 1 year of professional social work experience
• Willingness to travel as required by the role
• Certification in case management may be required upon appointment

Responsibilities

• Manages a caseload and provides services for individuals and their families.
• Evaluates needs and arranges for needed treatment or services.
• Counsels clients under direction of a psychiatrist, psychologist or other social services specialist.
• Interviews clients in office or on home visits and documents data for program eligibility.
• Develops and implements casework plans for individuals with diverse needs.
