Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services seeks a Family Services Specialist II to develop and implement individualized service plans using casework methods and manage basic CPS caseloads. You will typically work independently, seeking supervisory input for unusual cases or policy questions.

Responsibilities include interviewing, assessing client needs, coordinating services, and providing case management to ensure delivery of appropriate services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's degree in any field with two years of related Human Services experience.
• Possession of a BSW or MSW and Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
• Experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interprets laws, policies and regulations as applied to specific area of responsibility.
• Monitors, coordinates and administers programs as assigned.
• Coordinates services within specific area of responsibility.
• Interviews and assesses customer needs and other factors such as education/skill levels, abilities, interests and support systems.
• Informs clients of related service programs rules/regulations and rights to participate.
• Provides case management services to monitor compliance; maintains waiting lists; prepares reports and correspondence.
