Job description

A two lawyer firm in downtown Pensacola seeks a paralegal with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The firm specializes in the representation of disabled persons and aiding them with their claim for disability benefits.

You will experience challenges, responsibility, and be mentored. You will get to play an important role in improving the lives of severely disabled people. We offer plenty of opportunity for your professional and personal development.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing client’s claim
  • Timely submitting necessary paperwork
  • Keeping clients updated with status of their claim
  • Responding to email, mail, and phone communications
  • Case management responsibilities - tracking case status
  • Reviewing and submitting medical records
  • Contacting clients to obtain details on their cases
  • Helping attorney prepare for hearing
  • Crafting medical timelines chronicling major medical events and appointments
  • Timely filing appeals for all administrative and court levels
  • Assisting attorney organize/schedule important dates, phone calls, meetings, and court appearances
  • Working together with colleagues to serve clients

The job requires someone with:

  • An associate’s degree or higher, paralegal experience, or direct Social Security experience
  • An empathetic, patient, and compassionate person
  • A pleasant, intelligent, and reassuring phone voice
  • Strong people skills and ability to work well with others
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and focus in a fast paced work environment
  • Skilled in word processing, and
  • Someone attentive to detail
  • Ability to work both in a group and individually
  • A strategic, creative thinker
