Job summary

Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, CT invites applications for a Social Sciences Fellow for Grades 9-12 to begin in August 2027. The Fellow will teach alongside a master teacher in 9th and 10th grade interdisciplinary humanities and may co-teach, designing electives for 11th/12th grade across social sciences.

The Fellow joins a cohort of new teachers mentored by veteran colleagues and collaborates with Social Sciences faculty and the Upper School.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Instructional responsibility for History or English in assigned grade level(s)
• Collaboration with mentor teachers to provide instruction
• Collaboration with advisors, learning specialist teachers, and school psychologist to understand and support individual students’ learning needs
• Participation in the oversight of the progress of each child in the subject area
• Participation in the assessment of all student's progress in both written and verbal reports
• Communication with parents
• Collaboration with colleagues on grade level and interdisciplinary faculty teams, Upper School faculty and staff, and the broader school community
• Supervision of students during recess, lunch, arrival, and dismissal as requested by the Division Head
• Significant participation in the life of the school, including coaching, covering classes as necessary, advising clubs, etc.

Greenwich Country Day School seeks Social Sciences Fellow for Grades 9-12, to start in August 2027

The Social Sciences Fellow will have the opportunity to teach alongside a master teacher in 9th and 10th Grade (global and American, respectively) interdisciplinary humanities programs, as well as to co-teach, and in the second year propose, design, and teach 11th/12th grade specialized electives across all social sciences fields.

The Fellow will be part of a larger cohort of new teachers, who will be mentored by a team of master teachers and engage in meaningful collaboration with Social Sciences colleagues and the Upper School faculty. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with Upper School students and teaching Humanities, along with a strong desire to learn about independent school teaching.
