_ NAUI, the National Association of Underwater Instructors, has trained scuba divers since 1960. We are a not-for-profit membership association of instructors, dive leaders and dive centers around the world, supported by a small headquarters team in Riverview, Florida._

_ Our mission is dive safety through education. One question guides how we train and support NAUI leaders: would I trust this person to teach someone I love? We call it the Loved One Concept._

_ NAUI is in a period of renewal. We are modernizing how the association operates, refreshing our brand, expanding our membership and doubling down on our not-for-profit mission. It’s an exciting time to be part of NAUI._

The role

You will plan, create and publish NAUI’s social content, look after the conversations that follow, and report on what works. Much of the content you will shoot and edit yourself, at headquarters, at dive sites and at events, and you will also work with footage our members send in.

This is a role for a skilled professional who puts our members and divers in front of the camera. We are not hiring an influencer to be the face of NAUI. We are looking for a great diver who understands social media. Every post should show safe diving at its best, because that is what we stand for.

What you will do
  • Keep NAUI’s social media plan and content calendar current with the Marketing Manager, and run our channels, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and TikTok, to that plan.
  • Review which channels reach our audiences best, and recommend where to put more effort and where to step back.
  • Create short video, photography, graphics and captions, edit footage supplied by members and partners, and work with our brand agency’s designers on larger pieces.
  • Feature the instructors, dive centers and divers who carry NAUI’s mission, with their permission and proper credit.
  • Make sure every image and video shows safe, correct diving practice, and check skills content with our Training department before it is published.
  • Reply to comments and messages promptly, route questions to Member Services or Training, and pass sensitive matters such as incidents, complaints or legal questions to leadership without public comment.
  • Cover events on site, including the DEMA Show and NAUI conferences.
  • Report each month on reach, engagement and growth, and use the results to adjust the plan.
  • Follow platform changes and trends in diving and outdoor media, and test new formats.
  • Help with email newsletters and website updates, including basic SEO, when needed.
What you bring
  • Certified scuba diver (any training agency), with proven photo and video skills both above and under water.
  • At least four years running social media for a brand or organization, beyond a personal account.
  • A portfolio of content you created yourself, with the results it achieved.
  • Editing skills in tools such as Premiere Pro, CapCut, Lightroom and Canva.
  • Clear, lively writing in English.
  • Working knowledge of platform analytics and scheduling tools such as Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social or similar.
  • The ability to run several projects at once and keep to deadlines.
  • Composure in public conversations, including difficult ones.
  • A degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Strongly preferred
  • NAUI training, as a diver or as a member.
  • Web publishing experience with a CMS such as WordPress, and a working grasp of SEO.
  • Working ability in a language other than English.
  • Experience running paid social campaigns.
