About
The
Social Media Manager
will play a key role in developing and executing VCA’s national social media strategy and building VCA’s reputation as a trusted provider of world-class veterinary care. As part of the Corporate Affairs team, this role will collaborate with internal teams and agencies to create compelling, data-driven content that aligns with reputational and brand goals and resonates with target audiences. They will be responsible for real-time community engagement, trend monitoring, content scheduling and performance analysis.

Essential Responsibilities & Tasks
Assist Director, Social Communities & Storytelling, with driving social media strategy for VCA and bringing this strategy to life across our social media accounts.
Partner with internal teams, agencies and Mars Veterinary Health to create and implement innovative social media strategies that align with brand goals.
Use data-driven insights and cultural trends to guide real-time and long-term content strategies.
Lead real-time community engagement, ensuring brand voice consistency while fostering meaningful connections.
Collaborate with creative teams to ideate and optimize engaging, platform-native content that drives impact.
Use social listening tools to surface trends, audience insights and opportunities for engagement.
Manage the end-to-end content approval process, ensuring alignment with brand and regulatory guidelines.
Schedule and publish social content across platforms, optimizing for engagement and reach.
Partner with Client Experience team on reputation management, which includes escalating potential online risks, gathering coverage, context and data for team leads.
Track and analyze social performance metrics to inform future content and engagement strategies.
Share key insights and learnings with internal stakeholders to refine social execution.
Assist local marketing teams with social media support.
Education/Experience
Bachelor degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations.
5 years of social media marketing, social reporting and/or PR experience, with the ability to assemble and deliver social content emphasizing cost/time efficiencies.
Technical proficiency for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is critical.
Photoshop and/or the ability to edit photos and videos is preferred.
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
Passionate social media user with experience as a social media assistant, coordinator or specialist roles.
Experience in creating and editing branded social media content using mobile and social-native tools, as well as collaborating with creative teams on content development.
Understands how to identify risk and how to independently judge and recommend how to navigate around it.
Demonstrate the ability to be self-sufficient in a supportive environment while independently prioritizing and completing tasks on time and communicating effectively.
Ability to apply project management best practices while managing multiple projects efficiently, adapting to shifting timelines and priorities.
Understand social media channels and keep up to date with new social media tools, updates and channels.
Strong service mindset with ability to collaborate in a matrixed organization; experience with client services or client relationship management preferred.
Proficient writer who can shift between short-form and long-form copywriting quickly and effectively.
Able to understand and shift between voices for varying audiences (i.e., employer brand vs. consumer brand) and be comfortable switching several times per business day.

Additional Information
Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $78,000 - $97,000.
