Job summary

Advisors Excel is seeking a Social Media Intern to support our Corporate Marketing team in Topeka, KS. The role focuses on community management, content creation, and social strategy, with hands-on experience across platforms, tools, and events at our Topeka headquarters.

You'll audit and energize our private Facebook group for financial advisors, monitor comments, create short-form content, and learn how AI tools can turn long videos into engaging clips.

Qualifications

Job description

Are you someone who loves social media, keeps up with trends, and enjoys creating content that engages online communities? Advisors Excel is looking for a Social Media Intern who wants hands-on experience with community management, content creation and social strategy! You'll work alongside our Corporate Marketing team to support online communities, create and repurpose content, assist with advisor events, and gain experience with the platforms, tools and day-to-day work that goes into managing social media for a brand.

This internship position is a year-round position, that will require to be in our Topeka, KS office.

What you’ll do:

• Facebook Group Management
  • Take on a key project auditing and cleaning up our private Facebook group for financial advisors
  • Review current group membership and work with internal teams to keep membership list up to date
  • Use Excel to organize, track and maintain information throughout the audit process
  • Look for opportunities to keep the group active, organized and valuable for our advisor community
• Community Management
  • Help monitor comments and messages across Advisors Excel social media channels
  • Respond to routine comments and DMs using established brand voice and guidelines
  • Regularly monitor advisor office accounts and identify opportunities for Advisors Excel to like, comment and engage with their content
• Content Creation & Repurposing
  • Capture photos and short-form video content around the Advisors Excel office
  • Help capture social content at advisor events hosted at our Topeka headquarters
  • Complete light video editing and help prepare social-first content
  • Use AI-powered tools to help turn long-form videos into short-form social clips
  • Help identify social media trends and content opportunities that make sense for our audiences
  • Support the social team with additional content and platform needs as they come up

Experience you’ll bring:

• Strong written communication skills and an interest in learning how to communicate on behalf of a brand
• Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
• Comfortable working in Excel and with projects that require organization and attention to detail
• Comfortable capturing photo and video content on a phone
• Basic video editing skills or an interest in developing them
• Comfortable using AI tools or excited to learn how they can be incorporated into a social media workflow
• Someone who keeps up with social media trends and is genuinely interested in what makes content work
• Organized, dependable and willing to take initiative while also asking questions and learning from the team

Bonus Points:

• Some previous social media or content experience through an internship, student organization, coursework, freelance work or personal projects
• Current college student interested in pursuing a career in social media, marketing, communications or a related field
• A light portfolio or examples of social media or content work
