Responsibilities

  • Manage Maryville's social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, Pinterest, YouTube.
  • Plan, publish, monitor, and optimize content across platforms to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Support community management while maintaining brand voice and standards.
  • Develop compelling, student‑centered content including graphics, photography, video, captions, stories, and assets.
  • Capture campus experiences through photography, videography, and live event coverage.
  • Create platform‑specific content aligned with trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment, Athletics, Academic Programs, Student Affairs, Advancement, and others to tell the Maryville story.
  • Support marketing campaigns and events with strategic social media content.
  • Monitor trends and audience behavior to improve strategy.
  • Provide photography, videography, and real‑time social coverage at campus events.

As a member of the Strategic Enrollment & Marketing team, you will manage the university's social media presence while creating engaging content that supports enrollment, brand awareness, student engagement, and institutional reputation. What You’ll Do

As our Social Media Coordinator, you will:

Manage Maryville's Social Media Presence
  • Manage and maintain the university's primary social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, Pinterest, and YouTube.
  • Plan, publish, monitor, and optimize content across platforms to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Support community management by engaging with audiences while maintaining the university's brand voice and communication standards.
Create Engaging Digital Content
  • Develop compelling, student‑centered content including graphics, photography, short‑form video, captions, stories, and campaign assets.
  • Capture authentic campus experiences through photography, videography, and live event coverage.
  • Create platform‑specific content that aligns with current social media trends and best practices.
  • Partner with Enrollment, Athletics, Academic Programs, Student Affairs, Advancement, and other university departments to tell the Maryville story.
  • Support institutional marketing initiatives, recruitment efforts, and special events through strategic social media content.
  • Work collaboratively with campus partners to ensure messaging is aligned with university priorities.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of paid social media campaigns supporting enrollment, awareness initiatives, events, and other university priorities.
  • Monitor emerging social media trends, platform updates, and audience behaviors to continuously improve content strategy.
  • Utilize social listening and audience engagement to strengthen Maryville's online presence.
Measure Performance & Drive Results
  • Track and analyze social media performance metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness.
  • Provide recommendations to improve engagement, audience growth, reach, and conversion outcomes.
  • Ensure all content aligns with university brand standards, accessibility guidelines, and institutional communication priorities.
Support University Events
  • Provide photography, videography, and real‑time social media coverage during campus events and institutional activities.
  • Participate in occasional evening and weekend event coverage to maintain an active and engaging social media presence.
What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and creating engaging digital content for an organization or brand.
  • Strong understanding of social media strategy, audience engagement, content trends, and platform best practices across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Experience utilizing social media management and analytics platforms.
  • Excellent written communication, storytelling, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to five years of professional experience in social media, digital marketing, or content creation.
  • Experience supporting higher education, enrollment marketing, or another mission‑driven organization.
  • Experience with photography, videography, graphic design, and video editing.
  • Salary Range: $48,000‑60,000 annually
  • Actual compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
