  • Experience managing a social media account for a business, school, church, or organization preferred.
  • A good eye for photo and video composition; comfortable shooting and editing on a smartphone.
  • Familiarity with Instagram and content tools such as Buffer, Canva, or similar.
  • Strong, friendly written communication skills and good judgment about what's appropriate to post.
  • Highly organized and reliable, comfortable keeping a consistent posting rhythm and leading volunteers.
  • Comfortable recruiting and directing student volunteers in a school setting.
  • Basic familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, or similar) a plus.
  • A heart for Christian education and comfort being around students, families, and staff regularly.
  • Must be able to pass a background check per Legacy Academy / Legacy Church requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review photo, video, and update submissions from teachers, coaches, and staff for daily posting.
  • Create, schedule, and publish content to Instagram and other platforms using content scheduling tools like Buffer.
  • Crop and format photos and videos to platform specs and light editing/captioning as needed.
  • Write clear, warm, on-brand captions consistent with Legacy Academy's voice and style guidelines.
  • Monitor comments and direct messages, respond promptly or flag for follow-up.
  • Capture photo and video content on-site at select events, games, performances, and chapel (evenings/weekends).
  • Recruit, schedule, and coordinate a student volunteer team to help gather content across campus.
  • Maintain the Legacy Academy website, keeping pages, photos, staff listings, and event information current.
  • Coordinate with Graphics Department and school administration to align posts with calendar and enrollment priorities.
  • Keep a simple content calendar and share basic engagement highlights periodically.
  • Escalate urgent or inappropriate content to supervisor.

About the Role

Legacy Academy is looking for a creative, dependable Social Media Coordinator to help tell the everyday story of our Christ-centered school community. This part-time role owns the day-to-day presence on Instagram (@legacyacademynm) and other school social channels, turning classroom moments, chapel, athletics, and campus events into content that connects with LA families and the wider community.

You'll work closely with the Graphics Department to keep our social media and website feeling current, on-brand, and true to who we are, while helping staff, coaches, and a student volunteer team share what's happening in their classrooms and programs.

What You'll Do
  • Review photo, video, and update submissions from teachers, coaches, and staff (including the LA Social Media group chat) for daily posting.
  • Create, schedule, and publish content to Instagram and other platforms using our content scheduling tools (e.g., Buffer).
  • Crop and format photos and videos to platform specs (4:5 for feed posts, 9:16 for Stories) and light editing/captioning as needed.
  • Write clear, warm, on-brand captions consistent with Legacy Academy's voice and style guidelines.
  • Monitor comments and direct messages, responding promptly and appropriately or flagging items for follow-up.
  • Capture photo and video content on-site at select school events, games, performances, and chapel (some evenings/weekends required).
  • Recruit, schedule, and coordinate a student volunteer team to help gather photo, video, and story content across campus.
  • Maintain the Legacy Academy website, keeping pages, photos, staff listings, and event information current and accurate.
  • Coordinate with the Graphics Department and school administration to align posts and website updates with the school calendar, enrollment priorities, and any sensitive announcements.
  • Keep a simple content calendar and share basic engagement highlights periodically.
  • Immediately escalation any urgent, sensitive, or inappropriate content or comments to your supervisor.
What We're Looking For

Schedule
