Job summary

NORTHWEST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Secondary Special Education Teacher - SOAR Unit to support students with disabilities. The position reports to the campus principal and involves developing IEPs through ARD, implementing instructional programs, and collaborating with teachers to modify curricula.

The role requires expertise in ARD/IEP, strong collaboration, and dedication to inclusive education.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Valid Texas certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
Semi-Annual Certification (Periodic Certification) for Single Cost Objective employees.
Ability to work effectively with school and community population.
Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through ARD for each student.
Implement instructional or therapeutic programs with written evidence of preparation.
Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials reflecting learning styles.
Work with teachers to modify regular curricula and assist students in regular classes.
Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
Conduct assessments of learning styles to plan instructional activities.
Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
Use technology in teaching and learning processes.
Maintain communication with parents, principals, and teachers.
Supervise work of aides and volunteers.
Maintain reports and records as required.
