Job summary

Woburn Public Schools seeks a Special Education SOAR Program Teacher for Kennedy Middle School (grades 5-8). The role focuses on students with reduced cognitive and academic abilities, providing individualized and small group support within SOAR and General Education settings.

The teacher will differentiate curricula, develop positive behavior plans, and lead IEP meetings while maintaining accurate records and collaborating with families and district staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current Massachusetts DESE Certification in Moderate Special Needs for K-8.
• Experience working in diverse educational settings with students, families, and colleagues.
• Competence with technology tools and platforms, including Google applications.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment.
• Provide individual and small group instruction for SOAR and General Education students as appropriate.
• Differentiate instruction and develop access to inclusion opportunities with general education teachers.
• Develop and implement positive behavior support programs; consult with district staff.
• Write IEPs and progress notes using data across the academic year; plan MCAS Alternative Assessments as needed.
• Chair annual review and IEP progress meetings; participate in evaluation and eligibility meetings.
• Oversee paraprofessional staff in data collection and student support.
• Collaborate with special education teams and related service providers; maintain student records and communication with parents.
