Job summary

Coda Search is partnering with a fast-growing consumer brands company in Brooklyn, NY, seeking a Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to own payroll and benefits administration end-to-end for 1000+ employees across multiple states.

You will run full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly staff, manage timekeeping, deductions, and benefits, perform audits and reconciliations, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on payroll experience including multi-state processing.
• Experience with major payroll HRIS platforms.
• Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivots.
• Ability to work independently in a standalone role.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees for over 1000+ employees.
• Oversee and management timekeeping data for hourly employees, including overtime, shift differentials, premiums, and retro pay
• Manage new hires, terminations, pay changes, bonuses, commissions, and off-cycle payments accurately and on time.
• Administer deductions and withholdings, including benefits, 401(k), garnishments, and child support orders.
• Perform pre- and post-payroll reconciliations to catch variances and errors before they reach employees.
• Conduct regular payroll audits of pay rates, deductions, tax setups, PTO balances, and employee data, and put corrective controls in place.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including multi-state requirements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits questions.
• Maintain and optimize the payroll/HRIS system and document policies, procedures, and internal controls that scale with the business.

The team is seeking to hire a Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to own payroll and benefits administration end-to-end. This is a standalone role. You'll be the company's go-to person for processing payroll for salaried and hourly employees, in addition to performing payroll audits and reconciliations.
