Job summary

Alterra is seeking seasonal help at Snowshoe, WV. The position starts end of November/beginning of December for the season, with on-mountain housing options available. Pay ranges from $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, based on experience and education.

The role requires early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with opportunities to enjoy on-mountain perks. Housing is affordable, and employees receive skiing/snowboarding privileges, Ikon Pass discounts, a 401k plan, and various retail/food

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Eagerness to learn snowmaking and contribute to operations.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting up to 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowmaking equipment and assist with trail cutting and site work.
• Maintain snowmaking equipment and assist with water and air line repairs.
• Provide labor support and relay information about trails, dining, weather and events.
• Maintain high-quality skiing terrain and relocate snowmaking guns as needed.
• Follow OSHA and company safety procedures and attend safety trainings.
• Landscaping tasks such as mowing, weed eating, and erosion control.

Physical Aptitude:

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate Equipment: Run snowmaking machinery, and handle trail cutting, road preparation, and site work.




• Maintenance: Perform upkeep on snowmaking equipment and assist with water and air line repairs.




• Support & Service: Provide labor support, exceed guest expectations, and deliver relevant information about trails, dining, weather, and events.




• Terrain Standards: Maintain high-quality skiing terrain and relocate snowmaking guns as needed.




• Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA and company procedures, attend safety training, and use appropriate PPE.




• Landscaping: Mow, weed eat, clear brush, and implement irrigation and erosion control measures.




• Communication: Coordinate with compressor house operators and report unsafe trail conditions to the Supervisor.

Driving:

• Have a valid Driver’s license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program




• Completion of ATV safety course, snowmobile safety course (if licensed), and snow science course is preferred, but not required.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience as a Snowmaker or in a similar role.
