Job summary

Snowshoe Mountain is seeking seasonal snowmakers to operate and maintain snowmaking equipment across the mountain, including trail prep and site work. The role requires lifting up to 70 pounds, performing demanding tasks in cold environments, and collaborating with teams to deliver optimal guest experiences.

Past snowmaking experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license and safety training are part of the requirements, with on-mountain housing available for employees.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience as a Snowmaker preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 70 pounds and perform strenuous tasks in variable weather.

Responsibilities

  • Operate snowmaking machinery and manage trail prep and site work.
  • Maintain and repair snowmaking equipment, assist with water and air line work.
  • Provide labor support and communicate trail, dining, weather, and event information to guests.
  • Maintain high-quality skiing terrain and relocate snowmaking guns as needed.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures and attend safety trainings.
  • Assist with landscaping tasks such as mowing and irrigation; erosion control.
  • Coordinate with compressor house operators and report unsafe trail conditions to supervision.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and complete Snowshoe driving program; ATV/snowmobile courses preferred but not required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred Experience: Snowmaker or similar role.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate Equipment: Run snowmaking machinery, and handle trail cutting, road preparation, and site work.
  • Maintenance: Perform upkeep on snowmaking equipment and assist with water and air line repairs.
  • Support & Service: Provide labor support, exceed guest expectations, and deliver relevant information about trails, dining, weather, and events.
  • Terrain Standards: Maintain high-quality skiing terrain and relocate snowmaking guns as needed.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA and company procedures, attend safety training, and use appropriate PPE.
  • Landscaping: Mow, weed eat, clear brush, and implement irrigation and erosion control measures.
  • Communication: Coordinate with compressor house operators and report unsafe trail conditions to the Supervisor.
  • Driving: Have a valid Driver’s license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program Completion of ATV safety course, snowmobile safety course (if licensed), and snow science course is preferred, but not required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred Experience: Previous experience as a Snowmaker or in a similar role.
