Midwest Railcar is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to strengthen its data foundation and deliver analysis-ready insights for decision-making. This onsite role in St.

Louis focuses on building scalable data models, ELT/ETL pipelines, and governance practices, with Snowflake and dbt at the core. You will design conformed analytics layers, dimensional models, and data marts, while ensuring data quality, lineage, and performance monitoring across pipelines.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and manage data models and ELT/ETL pipelines in Snowflake using dbt.
Create conformed and analytics layers to standardize data for business use.
Develop dimensional models and data marts aligned to business needs.
Implement data quality, integrity, and performance monitoring practices.
Contribute to data governance, lineage, and metadata documentation.
Establish data quality checks and validation in dbt workflows.
Optimize storage and retrieval in Snowflake for scalable solutions.
Fine-tune SQL queries and transformations for performance.
Monitor and improve pipeline efficiency and resource usage.
Document data models, processes, and key metrics clearly.
Document data lineage and maintain metadata for datasets.
Set documentation standards and best practices for the team.
Use version control and CI/CD pipelines for reliable development.
Ensure code quality via testing, peer reviews, and automated deployment.
Partner with analysts and business SMEs to translate needs into data solutions.
Participate in stakeholder meetings to refine data capabilities.
Build standardized data models to shorten time-to-insight.
