Job summary

State of South Carolina, through the Department of Social Services, seeks an ES Eligibility Specialist in Economic Services to support SNAP, ESAP and SCCAP efforts in Horry County. You will interview clients, determine eligibility and process benefits while maintaining confidential case records and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and related program experience in clerical administration or social services.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher may substitute for required experience.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct at least 15 quality interviews daily via phone or in person for SNAP, ESAP applications and recertifications.
• Process SNAP, ESAP, and SCCAP applications and/or recertifications by determining eligibility and authorizing benefits if applicable.
• Maintain case records in agency systems for documentation and auditing purposes and document client activities in the system.
• Identify and document overpayments and make referrals to the Benefit Integrity Unit; prepare materials for Fair Hearings as needed.
• Protect personal identifying information (PII) and safeguard agency networks and data.
• Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
