Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer for SMT (Starlink) based in Bastrop, Texas. You will lead supplier development, from NPI to high-volume production, ensuring quality, reliability, and scalable PCBA manufacturing globally.

Onsite duty requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers worldwide. You will manage process validation, equipment selection, and yield optimization while traveling up to 50% to supplier sites and ensuring compliance with IPC-A-610 and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
2+ years in PCBA manufacturing with SMT focus.
Hands-on SMT equipment programming, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Lead supplier qualification, development, and performance management for SMT/PCBA.
Drive NPI activities for new SMT lines and optimize yield at supplier facilities worldwide.
Identify and resolve SMT defects and process inefficiencies.
Conduct root cause analysis using PFMEA, DOE, and SPC.
Collaborate with SpaceX design, manufacturing, and quality teams on DFM/DFA.
Travel to supplier sites up to 50% for audits and on-site support.
Develop supplier scorecards, KPIs, and continuous improvement plans.
Support transition from prototype to mass production, including capacity planning and automation.
Ensure adherence to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements.
