Job summary

J&T Business Consulting is seeking an SMT Process Engineer for electronics manufacturing services in Seymour, CT. You will lead process development across SMT lines, drive yield improvements, and support NPI ramp-ups.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and maintenance, and ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001. A bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3–7 years EMS experience are required, with hands-on knowledge of DEK, Panasonic, Fuji, and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
3–7 years SMT process engineering experience in EMS/contract manufacturing.
Experience with SMT equipment (DEK, Panasonic, Fuji, Heller, Koh Young, CyberOptics).
Proficiency in IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
Lean Manufacturing and DMAIC, 8D, A3 problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end SMT line design, printing, placement, reflow, SPI, AOI, and X-ray.
Own process capability (Cpk), first-pass yield, defect reduction, throughput.
Develop SOPs, work instructions, PFPs, PFMEAs.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally.
Lead DFM reviews with customers and ramp-ups.
Analyze PCB layouts, Gerber data for assembly compliance.
Oversee tooling, fixtures, and equipment installation and qualification.
Drive CAPA with 8D/ DMAIC.
Ensure IPC/J-STD quality adherence.
