Job summary

RTX, Collins Aerospace seeks an SMT Engineering Technician at the Santa Isabel, PR site. You will provide technical support to SMT manufacturing, install and program equipment, and collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance to keep SMT operations safe and efficient.

Responsibilities include line start-up support, Pick & Place program creation, AOI/SPI configuration, reflow profile development, first articles, defect analysis, and operator training while upholding ESD,

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

• Create and maintain Pick & Place programs and component libraries
• Configure and optimize AOI/SPI systems and solder paste printing
• Develop and adjust reflow profiles and SMT process parameters
• Perform test runs, first-article inspections, NPIs, and troubleshoot issues
• Analyze defects, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
• Maintain documentation, train operators, and ensure compliance with ESD, safety, and quality standards

As a SMT Engineering Technician, you will responsible for providing technical support to surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing processes. This role includes implementing, installing, programming, commissioning, and optimizing equipment used for electronic PCB assembly. The technician collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and stable SMT operations, while supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Technical degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Electromechanics, Automation, or a related field
• Experience in electronic component manufacturing or PCB assembly
• Hands-on experience with SMT processes

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
